He's coming back in a couple of months in the adjectiveless X-Men, and it's rumored that at least 2 X-Men will be among his new Horesmen. I've seen a list on the UXM website and among them are Gambit, Havok, Polaris, Beast, and Sunfire.
One of the most interesting non-X-Men that I've seen on this list is the Dark Beast.
Here's the list:

Re: The return of Apocalypse
Wed, December 14, 2005 - 9:12 PMHaving said, I've always hated Apocalypse. And not hate: as in he's written so well I despise him as a character, but rather, hate as in: I have absolutely no interest in reading anything about him 'cause I think he is a over-used and rather boring plot device.
I hate to see that they're bringing him back. And OOOO! An X-Man is gonna be a Horseman. How original! Not. -

Thu, December 15, 2005 - 1:16 AMI agree with Jamez. Apocalypse bites. He also always seemed a Marvel version of Darkseid to me, a rip off. -

Thu, December 15, 2005 - 9:36 AMHere good question who copy who of DC vs. Marvel? -

Re: The return of Apocalypse
Thu, December 15, 2005 - 10:11 AMI think they go back and forth and the copying.....one has a good idea and the other makes thier own kind of good idea.... -

Re: The return of Apocalypse
Fri, December 16, 2005 - 6:15 PMYeah... that's just part of the capitalist way. Sometimes the copies are good: Gladiator, of the Imperial Guard. Sometimes not: ...erm... gee. I can't think of one, off hand. -

Re: The return of Apocalypse
Wed, May 31, 2006 - 10:48 AMI like Gambit as a horseman, and I'm lookin' forward to seeing how his future shapes up after this. However, If apocalypse was going to beef up Gambit, then why didn't he give him back his original powers (New Sun. No Sinister brain surgery.)?
If you say, "well, that would make him too powerful", then why did Apocalypse already make him powerful enough to kill him? Gambit's already threatening to kill him. And Apocalypse is taking him seriously.
So if Apocalypse was already in the "let's create something that could kill me" mode, then why not go for the gold?
Apocalypse could certainly do it. -

Re: The return of Apocalypse
Wed, May 31, 2006 - 10:37 PMI would say darkseid is alot more fleshed out as a character, but Apoc has some room for growth (if an with marvel its ALWAYS if) they make his most recent take as mutant savior a new twist they build on for more then 6 months. I always thought cable was a good hero and foil for him, course that was back when he was seen, cool, and had a purpose, all of which he lacks currently. In my opinion the Xmen have been in need of some serious help with there villans, as other than magneto, sinister, and the government, they all are either too new, too wack, or too weird. Look at the best characters an heros team's and such they all have the best rouge's gallery. Batman, spidey, jla, avengers, they all have numerous good baddy's. When onslaught and robots (sentinels) are in the top 5 you need some good writers and some story lines. -

Re: The return of Apocalypse
Thu, June 1, 2006 - 6:42 AMAdd me to the list of fans who *yawn* and snigger at yet ANOTHER round of " X-shattering" Apoca-epileptic plot twits and turns.....
Wonder how many one shots and mini-series we'll have to buy to keep up THIS time around............
*yawn*
Altho- i have to admit the whole "Age of Apocalypse" future line books from back in the 90's (was that when those came out.. ??)- were some of my favorite re-workings of the X-future....... -

Re: The return of Apocalypse
Thu, June 1, 2006 - 2:31 PMThe Age of Apocalypse was, imho, one of the best events Marvel has ever done. But one must note that Apocalypse was not what carried that series. Magnus, Sinister, Nathan Grey, The Dark Beast... even Sugarman, all had more character than Apocalypse. He was just as boring in that storyline as he always is. -
